Manobra que deu o apuramento ‘in-extremis’ a ‘Cachuxa’ para as meias-finais Sub-18 Feminino em Ribeira d’Ilhas

A tribo do Clube Naval de Portimão viajou no fim-de-semana até à Ericeira, para disputar a 5ª Etapa do Circuito Nacional de Surf Esperanças 2013, nas categorias Sub-14, Sub-16 e Sub-18 Feminino. A prova decorreu na Praia de Ribeira d’Ilhas, organizada pelo Clube de Surf da Ericeira e pela Federação Portuguesa de Surf. Nádia ‘Cachuxa’ Reis foi a ‘grom’ algarvia melhor classificada, afastada em 3º numa meia-final feminina. Francisco Duarte, agora a residir na Grande Lisboa e a treinar-se com a Surftechnique, perdeu nos quartos-de-final Sub-16, mas fez um ‘score’ histórico na sua carreira em nacionais e é agora o melhor algarvio nos rankings nacionais Esperanças.

A Etapa começou na sexta-feira, 4 de Outubro, dia com as melhores ondas. Francisco Duarte venceu a sua bateria na Ronda 1 Sub-16 com um ‘score’ de 16.75 pontos, para o qual contribuiu uma onda de 9 pontos. “Foi o meu melhor score em nacionais. O treino começa a ter efeito”, disse Francisco Duarte ao Swell-Algarve, já no dia seguinte, após ter sido eliminado nos quartos-de-final.

Ainda em Sub-16, José Montez foi eliminado logo na Ronda 1, numa altura em que a maré não ajudou e a escolha de ondas não foi a melhor. António Silveira foi afastado na Ronda 2 e Francisco Duarte e Martim Magalhães, o melhor algarvio nos rankings nacionais de Esperanças à partida para esta Etapa, avançaram para os quartos-de-final, disputados na manhã de sábado, com mar mais pequeno. Francisco e Martim, este último treinado por Francisco Canelas, perderam em terceiro nas respectivas baterias dos quartos-de-final Sub-16.
Francisco Bivar Weinholtz, António Dionísio e Ricardo ‘Ricky Augusto disputaram a Etapa em Sub-14. Weinholtz venceu a sua bateria na Ronda 1. ‘Ricky’ foi eliminado ‘de primeira’ (4º na sua bateria) e António Silveira seguiu com Weinholtz para a Ronda seguinte (2 ; no caso equivalente a quartos-de-final). Foram ambos eliminados nas respectivas baterias dos quartos-de-final, Weinholtz em 3º e Silveira em 4º.

Nádia ‘Cachuxa’ Reis e Yolanda Sequeira-Hopkins, ambas treinadas pela FutureSurfingSchool (Praia da Rocha), disputaram a Etapa em Sub-18 Feminino. A competição nesta categoria começou directamente nos quartos-de-final, ao final da manhã de sábado. Yolanda controlou a sua bateria e passou em segundo de forma tranquila. Nádia apurou-se de forma dramática para as meias-finais, ao conseguir um 3.50 numa onda já em cima da buzina, quando precisava de 3.26 para ser segunda na bateria.
As duas algarvias disputaram a mesma meia-final e perderam; Nádia em 3º (score 3.65) e Yolanda em 4º (score 3.2), num mar muito pequeno. A Etapa em Sub-18 Feminino foi ganha por Camilla Kemp, uma semana depois de ter vencido o Allianz Cascais Pro (Liga Moche) e repetindo a vitória obtida na 4ª Etapa de Esperanças. A final feminina proporcionou uma batalha interessante pelo segundo lugar, ganho por Mariana Assis em luta directa com Beatriz Santos.
Camilla Kemp já soma 4 vitórias em 5 Etapas, tal como João Kopke, que venceu na Ericeira em Sub-18. Esta 5º Etapa deu novos líderes aos rankings Sub-12 e Sub-14 e reforçou o líder Sub-16, Guilherme Fonseca, que se impôs numa final onde o conhecimento da onda fez diferença.
A próxima etapa do Circuito Nacional de Surf Esperanças 2013 é a ‘Finalíssima’, a disputar apenas pelos 16 melhores de cada escalão, em São João do Estoril, nos dias 2 e 3 de Novembro. Apenas 5 atletas algarvios têm ‘ranking’ para disputar a ‘Finalíssima’: Yolanda Sequeira-Hopkins e Nádia ‘Cachuxa’ Reis em Sub-18 Feminino, Francisco Duarte e Martim Magalhães em Sub-16 e Francisco Bívar Weinholtz em Sub-14.

NO SURFER FROM THE ALGARVE IN THE FINALS
The ‘Clube Naval de Portimão’ tribe traveled on the weekend until Ericeira, to compete in Event 5 of the Junior Division Portuguese Surf Circuit 2013 for the age groups Under-14 , U-16 and U-18 Girls. The event was held on the beach of Ribeira d’Ilhas, organised by the ‘Ericeira Surf Clube’ and the Portuguese Surfing Federation. Nadia ‘Cachuxa’ Reis was the best ‘grom ‘ from Algarve, losing in 3rd in a girls semi-final. Francisco Duarte, now living in the Greater Lisbon and training with Surftechnique, lost in the quarter-finals Under-16, but made an historical ‘ score’ in his national circuit career.
The Event began on Friday, October 4, the day with the best waves. Francisco Duarte won his heat in Round 1 of Under 16 with a ‘ score’ of 16.75 points, to which contributed a 9 points wave. “It was my best score at the nationals. The new training begins to take effect”, said Francisco Duarte to Swell-Algarve, the very next day, after being eliminated in the quarter- finals.
Still in U-16, José Montez was eliminated in Round 1, at a time when the tide was numb and his choice of was not the best . António Silveira was eliminated in Round 2 and Francisco Duarte and Martim Magalhães, the best ‘Algarvean’ ranked in this circuit, followed through to the quarter-finals played on Saturday morning , in a very shy sea. Francisco and Martim, the later trained by Francisco Canelas, lost in 3rd in their batteries of the quarter-finals U-16 .
Francisco Weinholtz, António Dionísio and Ricardo ‘ Ricky Augusto competed in Under 14. Weinholtz won his Round 1 heat. ‘ Ricky went straight out (4th on his Round 1 heat) and António Silveira followed with Weinholtz through to the next round (2 , in this case equivalent to quarter-finals). They were both eliminated in their quarter-finals heats, Weinholtz 3rd and Silveira 4th.
Nadia ‘Cachuxa’ Reis and Yolanda Sequeira-Hopkins, both trained by FutureSurfingSchool (‘Praia da Rocha’), competed in Under-18 Girls. The competition in this group started directly in the quarter-finals at the end of Saturday morning. Yolanda controlled her heat and went ahead smoothly in second. Nadia found herself dramatically into the semi-finals, getting a 3.50 in a wave over the horn when she needed 3.26 for the second place in the heat with the ticket to the next round.
The two girls from the Algarve competed in the same semi-final and lost ; Nadia 3rd (score 3.65 ) and Yolanda 4th (score 3.2 ), in a sea way too small . The Event in Under-18 Girls was won by Camilla Kemp, a week after winning the Allianz Cascais Pro (Liga Moche – Portuguese Open Pro Circuit) and repeating the victory obtained in Event 4 of the Junior Division. The girls final provided an interesting battle for second place, won by Mariana Assis in direct fight with Beatriz Santos .
Camilla Kemp sums up 4 wins in 5 Events, as well as John Kopke , who won the Under-18 in Ericeira. This Event 5 reinforced leaders of the rankings Under-12 , Under-14 and Under-16, all of each that won their groups in Ribeira d’Ilhas . The next Event of the Junior Division Portuguese Circuit 2013 is the ‘Big Final’, disputed only by the top 16 of each age group, in São João do Estoril, on 2nd and 3rd November.
