Canoagem – XV Subida Internacional do Arade

A XV Subida Internacional do Arade em canoagem proporcionou neste domingo, dia 11 de Novembro, um autêntico duelo ibérico a remos entre Portimão e Silves, devido à forte presença de atletas espanhóis na prova organizada pelo Clube Naval de Portimão, com o apoio dos municípios de Portimão, Silves e Lagoa.
Cerca de 120 remadores – uma centena em competição e duas dezenas em turismo náutico – participaram na prova, disputada num percurso com cerca de 12 quilómetros, a favor da corrente. “A subida do Arade, apesar de ser longa, não é difícil”, disse ao Swell-Algarve o director da prova, Eduardo Reis, professor no Clube Naval de Portimão e dirigente da Associação Regional de Canoagem do Algarve (ARCA).

Entre os remadores que hoje se apresentaram à partida destacava-se uma forte presença de atletas espanhóis, nomeadamente de Huelva. António Dominguez, do Club Piraguismo Punta Umbria, venceu a prova na categoria K1 sénior. Clube Naval de Portimão, A.A.D. Mexilhoeira da Carregação e CF Odemirense foram os principais clubes portugueses a dividirem pódios com a armada espanhola.

A prova terminou com um almoço convívio em Silves, tendo a organização proporcionado regresso gratuito dos atletas ao ponto de partida, o Clube Naval em Portimão.

Kayaking – XV River Arade International Ascent
The XV River Arade International Ascent in kayaking provided this Sunday, November 11, an authentic Iberian rowing duel from Portimão to Silves, due to the strong presence of Spanish athletes in the competition organized by the Clube Naval de Portimão, with the support of the municipalities Portimão, Silves and Lagoa.

About 120 paddlers – a hundred im competition and twenty in nautical tourism – participated in the race, held over a distance of about 12 kilometers in favor of the stream. “The Arade ascent, despite being long, it is not difficult,” told to Algarve Swell the race director, Eduardo Reis, professor at Clube Naval de Portimão and director of the Regional Association of Kayaking in the Algarve (ARCA – Associação Regional de Canoagem do Algarve).
Among the rowers stood out a strong presence of Spanish athletes, mainly from Huelva. António Dominguez, representing Club Piraguismo Punta Umbria, won the race in the senior category K1. Clube Naval de Portimão, A.A.D. Mexilhoeira da Carregação and CF Odemirense were the main portuguese clubs sharing podiums with the Spanish Armada.

The race ended with a lunch in Silves. The organization provided free return of athletes to the starting point at Clube Naval de Portimão.
