JOÃO PINHEIRO EM JORNADA INTERNACIONAL

João Pinheiro, surfista algarvio residente em Portimão e atleta da Associação de Bodyboard de Sagres (ABS), inicia hoje, em França, uma intensa jornada internacional, com participações na 1ª Etapa do Circuito Europeu de Bodyboard (ETB) e, logo de seguida, na 3ª Etapa do circuito mundial de bodyboard IBA World Tour, no Chile.

A 1ª Etapa ETB é a organizada pela Federação Europeia de Surf (ESF) e marca o regresso da França ao calendário internacional, após alguns anos de ausência. A prova decorre até domingo 12 de Maio, em La Salie Nord, pico clássico com fundo de areia. Vão estar presentes alguns atletas portugueses, incluindo Hugo Pinheiro, campeão português 2012 e vencedor da última prova do circuito europeu do ano passado, em Marrocos, que o deixou no 3º lugar do ‘ranking’ europeu. Estará também presente Pierre Louis Costes, francês radicado em Portugal e campeão europeu 2012.
O algarvio João Pinheiro terminou o Circuito Europeu de Bodyboard 2012 no 6º lugar do ‘ranking’. “O objectivo é melhorar o 6º lugar do ano passado. Sei que não estou ainda em forma, devido a uma lesão num joelho que fiz enquanto treinava com mais intensidade, mas vou dar o máximo”, disse ontem o atleta ABS, através da rede social Facebook.
O Circuito Europeu de Bodyboard tem já uma etapa confirmada em Portugal, o Miss Sumol Cup, em Aveiro. Será a terceira etapa do circuito, após passagem pelo País Basco (Espanha). A quarta etapa poderá também ser em Portugal, na Figueira da Foz, mas ainda não está confirmada.
Logo após a conclusão do La Salie Pro, João Pinheiro viaja para o Chile, onde vai participar na 3ª Etapa da 1ª Divisão (Mens Grand Slam Series) do IBA World Tour. O Arica Chilean Challenge vai decorrer de 17 a 26 de Maio. O atleta algarvio aproveita a sua estada no Chile para participar depois no Antofagasta Bodyboard Pro, 1ª Etapa da Mens Global Qualifying Series, 2ª Divisão do circuito mundial IBA (International Bodyboard Association), que decorre de 28 de Maio a 2 de Junho. Recorde-se que João Pinheiro participou na 1ª Etapa do IBA World Tour, em Pipeline, Hawaii (ver link abaixo).
Vai ser um mês intenso para João PInheiro, a quem o Swell-Algarve deseja bom desempenho e sucesso.

Bodyboard – European and World circuits
JOÃO PINHEIRO ‘SURFS THE WORLD’
João Pinheiro, surfer from the Algarve resident in Portimão and athlete representing ‘Associação de Bodyboard de Sagres’ (ABS), begins today, in France, an intense international series, competing in Round 1 of the European Tour of Bodyboard (ETB) and, shortly thereafter, in Round 3 of the world bodyboard circuit IBA World Tour in Chile.
ETB’s Round 1 is organized by the European Surf Federation (ESF) and marks the return of France to the international calendar after a few years absence. The event runs until Monday, May 12, in La Salie Nord, a classic sand bottom spot. There will be present some Portuguese athletes, including Hugo Pinheiro, Portuguese champion 2012 and winner of the last round on last year European Tour, in Morocco, which left him in 3rd place in the European ‘ranking’. Also present Pierre Louis Costes, French living in Portugal and European and World champion 2012.
João Pinheiro finished the 2012 European Tour of Bodyboard in 6th place. “The aim is to improve last year 6th place. I’m not in shape, due to a knee injury I did while training with more intensity, but I’ll give my best,” said the ABS athlete in the social network Facebook, yesterday.
The European Tour of Bodyboard has already confirmed a Round in Portugal, the Miss Sumol Cup in Aveiro. It will be the third round of the tour, after Basque Country (Spain). The fourth round may also be in Portugal, in Figueira da Foz, but is not yet confirmed.
Soon after the completion of La Salie Pro, João Pinheiro travels to Chile, where he will participate in the Round 3 of the 1st Division (Mens Grand Slam Series) of the IBA World Tour. The Arica Chilean Challenge will take place between 17th and 26th May. The Algarve athlete takes his stay in Chile also to participate in the Antofagasta Bodyboard Pro, Round 1 of the Mens Global Qualifying Series, 2nd Division of the IBA World Tour (International Bodyboarding Association), which runs from May 28 to June 2. Remember that João Pinheiro participated in Round 1 of the IBA World Tour in Pipeline, Hawaii (see link above).
It will be an intense month for João Pinheiro, to whom Swell-Algarve wishes all the best.
