Swell-Algarve is an online news service about Sea Sports with particular attention to the Algarve athletes and events in the Algarve. It was founded by Paulo Marcelino, journalist with more than two decades of experience in daily national press both printed and online.
Swell-Algarve practice a proximity journalism with clubs and athletes from the Algarve and ensures coverage of all sporting events held in the sea of the Algarve. Some sports are more visible, like Surf, Bodyboard, Windsurfing and Sailing, but we report other sea sports, including Fishing, Spearfishing and Canoeing, among others, and even parallel sports like skateboard.
We also pay close attention to news about the sea, particularly in the Algarve, because the sea is the home of our passion, of our sports.
Swell-Algarve was founded in July 2012, as a blog and opened a Facebook page in January 2014. The increasing interest of our readers motivated the growth of the project, which became a website in January 2015, starting then the registration process as an official Media tittle.
