Joana Schenker é a melhor atleta do Algarve nos ‘rankings’: vice-líder dos circuitos português e europeu de bodyboard

Em Novembro realiza-se a última etapa do Circuito Nacional de Surf Esperanças 2013, logo no primeiro fim-de-semana, a penúltima etapa do Circuito Nacional de Bodyboard Esperanças 2013, no fim-de-semana seguinte, e a última etapa do Circuito Nacional de Bodyboard Pro Tour 2013, nos dias 23 e 24. À beira de ter início esta fase decisiva nos circuitos nacionais é tempo de relembrar a posição dos atletas algarvios nos respectivos ‘rankings’, com destaque para a vice-liderança de Joana Schenker no Open Feminino de Bodyboard e para o 4º lugar de Francisco Duarte nos Esperanças Sub-16 em surf.
Sempre discreta mas resoluta, Joana Schenker está a realizar uma época de ouro e a levar a bandeira do Algarve e da Associação de Bodyboard de Sagres (ABS) aos lugares cimeiros do Bodyboard nacional e estrangeiro. Em Agosto, Joana fez um 9º lugar na etapa portuguesa do circuito mundial de Bodyboard, em Sintra; um 7º lugar na prova europeia de 4 estrelas do circuito europeu Miss Sumol Cup, em Aveiro, e venceu a etapa do circuito nacional disputada em Cortegaça.
Joana Schenker está, neste momento, na vice-liderança dos circuitos europeu e português. A 3ª Etapa – última – do Open Feminino do Pro Tour 2013 vai disputar-se nos Açores, nos dias 23 e 24 de Novembro. Apenas 120 pontos separam Joana da lider Marta Fernandes. Na mesma prova vai disputar-se em simultâneo a 4ª Etapa – última – do Open Masculino do Pro Tour 2013. Francisco Pinheiro (ABS), o melhor bodyboarder no ‘ranking’ nacional Open não foi feliz nas duas etapas anteriores, mas pode voltar a brilhar como na 1ª Etapa do circuito, quando conquistou um 3º lugar.

No surf está concluido o circuito nacional Open Liga Moche, onde o algarvio Marlon Lipke (Clube de Surf de Faro) conseguiu um brilhante 7º lugar no ‘ranking’ final, tendo vencido a última etapa, em Cascais. A competição concentra-se agora no circuito Esperanças, com a etapa das decisões finais marcada já para o próximo fim-de-semana, em São João do Estoril. Só os 16 melhores de cada categoria vão disputar a ‘finalíssima’. O Algarve tem 5 atletas apurados para esta etapa: Yolanda Sequeira-Hopkins e Nádia ‘Cachuxa’ Reis em Sub-18 Feminino, Francisco Duarte e Martim Magalhães em Sub-16 e Francisco Bívar Weinholtz em Sub-14.
No fim-de-semana passado, o Swell-Algarve encontrou Francisco Duarte a treinar na Praia da Rocha, a aproveitar as magníficas ondas que têm favorecido a região nos últimos dias. Perguntámos se pretendia lutar em São João do Estoril por um resultado capaz de melhorar o seu resultado final no ‘ranking’ Sub-16 do ano passado (4º lugar). Francisco Duarte respondeu: “Vou tentar ganhar a etapa”.

ATHLETES FROM THE ALGARVE RANKINGS
In November it will be held the last event of the Portuguese Junior Division National Surf Circuit 2013 in the first weekend; the penultimate event of the Portuguese Junior Division National Bodyboard Circuit 2013 on the weekend after and the last event of the Portuguese National Bodyboard Pro Tour 2013 in the 23rd and 24th . On the verge of this decisive phase in national circuits is time to recall the position of the athletes from the Algarve in the ‘rankings’, highlighting the deputy leadership of Joana Schenker in the Ladies Bodyboard Open and the 4th place of Francisco Duarte in surf Under-16.
Always discreet but resolute, Joana Schenker is having a golden year, carrying the banner of the Algarve and of her team – ‘Associação de Bodyboard de Sagres’ ( ABS ) – to the top of Portuguese and international Bodyboarding. In August , Joana made a 9th place in the Portuguese leg of the Bodyboard world tour in Sintra, a 7th place in the 4 stars European competition Miss Sumol Cup in Aveiro and won the event of the portuguese national open circuit held in Cortegaça .
Joana Schenker is currently in second position of the Portuguese and the European circuits . The 3rd Event – last – of the Ladies Open in Pro Tour 2013 will be held in the Azores, on 23rd and 24th November. Only 120 points separate Joana from the leader Marta Fernandes. In the same event it will be held simultaneously Event 4 – last – of the Men’s Open in Pro Tour 2013. Francisco Pinheiro (ABS), the best bodyboarder in the portuguese Mens Open ‘ranking’ was not happy in the previous two events, but he can shine again as he did in Event 1 of the circuit when he won a 3rd place.
In surfing the Portuguese National Open circuit ‘Liga Moche’ is completed. Marlon Lipke from the Algarve (‘Clube de Surf de Faro’ – CSF) got a brilliant 7th place in the final Open ‘ranking’, having won the last event, in Cascais. The competition focuses now on the junior circuit, with the event of the final decisions scheduled for the next weekend, in São João do Estoril. Only the top 16 in each category (age group) will compete in the event. The Algarve has 5 athletes qualified: Yolanda Sequeira – Hopkins and Nadia ‘ Cachuxa ‘ Reis in Under-18 Girls, Francisco Duarte and Martim Magalhães in Under-16 and Francisco Bívar Weinholtz in Under-14.
Last weekend, Swell-Algarve found Francisco Duarte training in Praia da Rocha (Portimão), enjoying the magnificent waves that have favored the Algarve in recent days. We asked if he will fight in São João do Estoril for a result capable of improving his 4th place in the final Under-16 ‘ranking’ of last year. Francisco Duarte contested: ” I will try to win the event”.
