Tiago Serra (CVLagos) concluiu na 41ª posição da classificação geral final o Campeonato do Mundo de Optimist 2013, que hoje terminou em Lago Garda, Itália. Foram disputadas 10 regatas individuais, com um total de 259 velejadores de todo o Mundo, mas o vento nunca esteve a favor do jovem velejador algarvio, 15 anos, que assim se despede desta classe de Vela.
Tiago Serra é um velejador de vento forte, condição que nunca teve em Itália. O velejador algarvio, melhor português neste Mundial, ainda brilhou na regata inaugural, com um fantástico 2º lugar, mas teve um segundo dia bastante mau (38º e 36º), que acabou por lhe ditar a sorte. No penúltimo dia, ontem, ainda fez um 4º lugar e hoje conseguiu um 10º lugar na penúltima regata, mas não foi suficiente.
Esta foi a última prova do bi-campeão nacional de Juvenis na Classe Optimist. Tiago Serra queria ganhar o Mundial, mas as condições de vento não lhe foram favoráveis e a concorrência era muito forte. O vencedor do Mundial, por exemplo, Loh Jia Yi, de Singapura, venceu 6 das 10 regatas individuais.

TIAGO SERRA 41ST IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Tiago Serra (CVLagos) finished 41st overall in the Optimist World Championship 2013, which ended today in Lake Garda, Italy. Ten individual races were held, with a total of 259 sailors from around the world, but the wind was never in favor of the young sailor from the Algarve, 15 years.
Tiago Serra is a strong wind sailor, a condition that he never had in Italy. The sailor from the Algarve, best Portuguese in the World Championship, still shone in the opening race, with a fantastic 2nd place, but had a pretty bad second day (38th and 36th), which eventually dictated his luck. On the penultimate day, yesterday, he made a 4th place and today got a 10th place in the penultimate race, but it was not enough.
This was the last race of the twice Portuguese champion in the Optimist Class. Tiago Serra wanted to win the World Championship, but the wind conditions were not favorable and the competition was very strong. The winner of the World Championship, for example, Loh Jia Yi, Singapore, won 6 of the 10 individual races.
