Marlon Lipke foi eliminado na Ronda 4 (ronda de 96) do Vans US Open of Surfing, que está a decorrer em Huntington Beach, California, EUA. O surfista algarvio, único representante português na prova, foi 4º classificado no seu ‘heat’ e terminou o campeonato na 73ª posição, recolhendo 380 pontos para o circuito Prime ASP e um prémio monetário de 750 Dólares (569 Euros).
O Vans US Open of Surfing é a 4ª Etapa do Circuito Prime ASP e é considerada a maior prova do mundo de surf, em termos de assistência na praia. Lipke foi eliminado no terceiro dia da prova, quando entraram em acção os ‘top seed’ na competição, entre os quais 20 surfistas do circuito mundial WCT.
O atleta português entrou na água numa altura em que o mar estava menos generoso e não encontrou ondas suficientes para ir além dos 9.10 pontos. O seu ‘heat’ foi ganho por Kolohe Andino, um dos surfistas WCT em prova. Marlon Lipke é um atleta de origem alemã, formado pelo Algarve Surf Clube e com ligações ao Clube de Surf de Faro, pelo qual compete na Liga Moche.
A competição em Huntingon Beach tem estado animada pelos atletas WCT, sobretudo, por Julian Wilson (campeão do evento em 2012 e vencedor da 3ª Etapa deste ano), Kelly Slater (duas vezes vencedor desta prova) e Jordi Smith. Marlon Lipke was eliminated in the fourth round (round of 96) of the Vans US Open of Surfing, which is taking place in Huntington Beach, California, USA. The surfer from the Algarve, sole Portuguese in the event, was 4th in his ‘heat’ and finished the championship in the 73 th position, collecting 380 points for the Prime ASP circuit and a cash prize of 750 dollars (569 euros).
The Vans US Open of Surfing is the 4th Event in the Prime ASP 2013 circuit and is considered the greatest surfing event in the world, in terms of people on the beach. Lipke was eliminated on the third day of the event, when went into action the ‘top seed’ in the competition, including 20 WCT surfers. The Portuguese athlete entered the water at a time when the sea was less generous and did not find enough waves to go beyond 9.10 points. His ‘heat’ was won by Kolohe Andino, one of the WCT surfers in the competition.
The competition in Huntington’s Beach has been animated by WCT athletes, especially by Julian Wilson (event champion in 2012 and winner this year’s 3rd Event), Kelly Slater (twice winner of this event) and Jordi Smith.
