Jack Cookson (Clube de Vela de Lagos) conclui os Mundiais de Laser na 37ª posição da classificação final em Sub-18 Masculino. Os Mundiais de Laser foram disputados ao longo de seis dias, até ontem, no Lago Balaton, Hungria, e o jovem velejador algarvio foi o melhor português na prova.
Os Mundiais de Laser 4.7 integraram em simultâneo o Europeu da mesma disciplina, ‘ranking’ no qual Jack Cookson ocupou o 29º lugar da classificação final em Sub-18 Masculino. A 37ª posição alcançada no ‘ranking’ mundial integra uma tabela com 247 atletas inscritos.
Menos de duas semanas antes de iniciar a aventura na Hungria, Jack Cookson vencera de forma determinante a 5ª – última – Etapa do Campeonato do Algarve de Vela Ligeira 2012/2013, disputada em Vila Real de Santo António. Jack Cookson venceu três das quatro regatas realizadas durante a prova e acumulou a sua terceira vitória consecutiva em etapas do regional de vela ligeira.
A Associação Regional de Vela do Sul ainda não divulgou o ‘ranking’ final, mas Cookson deverá ter-se sagrado ‘campeão regional’ de Laser 4.7.

COOKSON 37TH IN HUNGARY
Jack Cookson (Clube de Vela de Lagos) finished 37th Under-18 Male the Laser Worlds Balaton 2013. The World championship was disputed over six days, until yesterday at Lake Balaton, Hungary, and the young sailor from the Algarve was the best Portuguese in the race.
The Laser Worlds (in Laser 4.7) integrated simultaneously the European Championship in Laser 4.7, in which Jack Cookson ‘ranked’ 29th in the age group Under-18 Male.
Less than two weeks before starting the adventure in Hungary, Jack Cookson won a decisive 5th – last – Event of the Algarve Dinghy Championship 2012/2013, held in Vila Real de Santo António. Jack Cookson won three of four regattas held during the competition and garnered his third consecutive victory in the regional dinghy sailing championship.
The regional association Associação Regional de Vela do Sul has not yet released the final ‘ranking’ but Cookson should be ‘regional champion’ Laser 4.7.
