Beatriz Gago, do Clube Naval de Portimão, venceu de forma categórica a terceira etapa do Campeonato de Vela Ligeira do Algarve 2012/2013 em Optmist infantis. A jovem campeã nacional obteve a mais expressiva vitória entre as quatro categorias disputadas na prova, que decorreu este fim-de-semana, 26 e 27 de Janeiro, em Olhão, organizada pelo Grupo Naval de Olhão, em conjunto com a Associação Regional de Vela do Sul. Participaram na competição 110 jovens velejadores de todo o Algarve.
Beatriz Gago venceu as três regatas disputadas hoje (domingo, segundo dia de prova), a que somou dois terceiros lugares e um segundo lugar nas três regatas disputadas no primeiro dia, sábado. A velejadora de Portimão somou oito pontos na prova, terminando com uma vantagem de menos onze pontos que o segundo classificado. Um domínio absoluto, que lhe garantiu a segunda vitória consecutiva neste campeonato regional.

Em Optmist juvenis destaque para a ausência do campeão nacional, Tiago Serra (Clube de Vela de Lagos), vencedor das duas primeiras etapas. O seu irmão André Serra (CVLagos) venceu a prova em Olhão, seguido de Rui Ribeiro (CNTavira) e de Rodolfo Pires (CNPortimão). Rodolfo Pires transferiu-se do Clube de Vela de Lagos, clube pelo qual obteve um segundo lugar na primeira etapa deste campeonato.

A segunda surpresa em Olhão foi a vitória de Jack Cookson (CVLagos) em Laser 4.7. O velejador lacobrigense intrometeu-se no duelo travado nesta categoria por João Rodrigues (CVLagos) e Emanuel Duarte (CNPortimão), que terminaram esta etapa em segundo e terceiro lugar, respectivamente.
Pedro Costa (CVLagos) obteve a segunda vitória consecutiva em Laser Radial. Inês Sobral (ANGuadiana) dominou o primeiro dia (um segundo lugar e dois primeiros nas três regatas de sábado), mas perdeu ritmo nas duas últimas regatas (hoje) e terminou a escassos dois pontos do vencedor.
A próxima etapa do Campeonato de Vela Ligeira do Algarve 2012/2013 disputa-se nos dias 6 e 7 de Abril, em Albufeira.

BEATRIZ GAGO WINS AGAIN
Beatriz Gago, representing Clube Naval de Portimão, emphatically won Stop 3 of the Algarve Dinghy Sailing Championship 2012/2013 in Optmist children. The young national champion won the most significant of all the victories in the four categories in competition at the event, which took place this week-end, 26 and 27 January, at Olhão, organized by Grupo Naval de Olhão, in conjunction with Associação Regional de Vela do Sul (sailing association of the Algarve).
Beatriz Gago won all the three regattas contested today (Sunday, the second day of trial), which added two third places and a second place finish in the three regattas contested on the first day, Saturday. The young athlete from Portimão added eight points in the event, finishing with a lead of eleven points less than the runner-up. An absolute dominion, which earned her the second consecutive victory in the regional championship.
In Optmist juvenile highlighting for the absence of the national champion, Tiago Serra (Clube de Vela de Lagos), winner of the first two Stops (events). His brother André Serra (CVLagos) won the event in Olhão, followed by Rui Ribeiro (CNTavira) and Rodolfo Pires (CNPortimão). Rodolfo Pires moved from Clube de Vela de Lagos, the club which he still represented when he finished second place in Stop 1 of this championship.
The second surprise in Olhão was the victory of Jack Cookson (CVLagos) in Laser 4.7. The young sailor intruded himself in this category duel between João Rodrigues (CVLagos) and Emanuel Duarte (CNPortimão), who finished Stop 3 in second and third place respectively.
Pedro Costa (CVLagos) took the second consecutive victory in Laser Radial. Inês Sobral (ANGuadiana) dominated the first day (a second place and two fisrt places in the three regattas raced on Saturday), but lost pace in the last two regattas (today) and ended barely two points away from the winner.
Stop 4 of the Algarve Dinghy Sailing Championship 2012/2013 will take place on the 6th and 7th of April in Albufeira.
