PRAIA DA ROCHA RECEBE ÚLTIMA ETAPA
O Circuito de Surf do Algarve 2012 termina no fim-de-semana 15 e 16 de Dezembro, na Praia da Rocha. A organização Playsurf anunciou que são esperadas condições clássicas na famosa esquerda do pico do molhe, a apontar para ondas de metro e meio e vento fraco. Um palco de gala para os melhores surfistas da região que vão competir na quinta – e última – etapa do campeonato, patrocinado pela Ericeira Surf Shop.
O circuito chega à Praia da Rocha já com campeões apurados nas categorias Feminino e Sub-12. Yolanda Sequeira e Guilherme Ribeiro garantiram os títulos na quarta etapa , em Quarteira, mas vão querer manter o brilhante registo pleno de vitórias nas respectivas categorias.
Em Sub-16, Francisco Duarte lidera isolado, mas Martim Magalhães ainda tem hipóteses matemáticas de chegar ao título… um duelo entre dois atletas do Clube Naval de Portimão. Outro duelo esperado na Praia da Rocha será entre Tomás Ribeiro e Simão Teixeira, em luta directa pelo título Sub-14.
O tri-campeão regional Miguel Mouzinho tem o título Open assegurado, bastando não faltar à chamada. Mas o surfista de Lagos não vai querer ganhar em contas apertadas. Mouzinho vai querer repetir as excelentes perfomances que tem tido neste campeonato, só que desta vez vai competir no ‘quintal’ de Francisco Canelas, que entrou no circuito apenas à terceira etapa , triunfando no ‘kanuguru’ da Arrifana.
O duelo entre Mouzinho e Canelas na final em Quarteira (quarta etapa) promete espectáculo para o Open na Praia da Rocha. Joackim Guichard vai entrar na luta pelo segundo lugar e esta categoria pode ganhar ainda mais emoção com a provável entrada na água de um atleta local, Miguel Veterano, que tem andado arredado da competição.
Em Longboard está tudo em aberto, mas o título não deve fugir ao Clube de Surf de Faro, com três atletas em luta directa pelo campeonato nesta categoria: Manuel Mestre (‘Necas’), que assumiu em Quarteira a liderança do ‘ranking’; Luís Esteves e João Veríssimo (‘Furas’), que acabou de se sagrar vice-campeão nacional . Em luta directa por este título está também Ruben Silva, do Porto, que é o novo campeão nacional de Longboard e pode ainda ganhar o campeonato algarvio na Rocha.

SHOWDOWN AT PRAIA DA ROCHA
The Algarve Surf TOUR 2012 concludes next weekend 15th and 16th December, at Praia da Rocha, Portimão. The organizer Playsurf announced that classic conditions are expected in the famous local left beach break, pointing to five-foot waves and mild wind. A stage gala for the best surfers in the region that will compete in the fifth – and final – round of the championship, sponsored by Ericeira Surf Shop.
The circuit comes to Praia da Rocha with already established champions in categories Women and Under-12. Yolanda Sequeira and Guilherme Ribeiro guaranteed bonds in the 4th Round , at Quarteira, but will want to keep the record of full victories in their respective categories.
In Under-16, Francisco Duarte leads isolated, but Martin Magalhães still has a mathematical chance to get to the title … a duel between two athletes representing Clube Naval de Portimão (Portimão Naval Club). Another duel expected in Praia da Rocha is between Tomás Ribeiro and Simão Teixeira in direct fight for the Under-14 title.
The three times Algarve champion Miguel Mouzinho has the Open title at hand, simply needing to be present. But the surfer from Lagos will not want to win in tight accounts. Mouzinho will want to repeat the excellent performances that have been making in this league, but this time he will be competing in Francisco Canelas’ ‘backyard’. Canelas entered the championship just in just the 3rd Round, triumphing in Arrifana’s ‘kanuguru’.
The duel between Mouzinho and Canelas in the final at Quarteira (4th Round) promises a show to the Open at Praia da Rocha. Joackim Guichard will enter the fight for second place and this category can earn even more excitement with the likely entry into the water from a local athlete, Miguel Veterano, which has been set apart from the competition.
In Longboard everything is open, but the title should not escape the Clube de Surf de Faro (Faro Surf Club), with three athletes in direct fight for the championship in this category: Manuel Mestre (‘Necas’), who took the lead in Quarteira, Luís Esteves and João Veríssimo (‘Furas’), who just clinch the portuguese runner-up tittle . In direct fight for the Algarve title is also Ruben Silva (from Porto), which is the new portuguese Longboard and can still win the Algarve championship at Praia Rocha.
