CLUBE NAVAL DE PORTIMÃO PEDE EXPLICAÇÕES

O Clube Naval de Portimão (CNP) enviou à Associação Portuguesa de Windsurf (APWind) um pedido de esclarecimentos sobre a última prova do Campeonato Nacional de Slalom Windsurfing Campofrio 2012, que decorreu em Óbidos, no fim-de-semana 1 e 2 de Dezembro. Miguel Martinho, atleta do CNP, liderava o campeonato e perdeu o título ao não comparecer na prova, contestada por outros atletas devido à data tardia e à forma como foi convocada.

MIguel Martinho, campeão em 2011, sente-se “magoado” por ter perdido o campeonato ao não competir em Óbdidos mas adiou mais comentários para depois da tomada de posição do Clube Naval de Portimão. A direcção do CNP deveria ter debatido ontem à noite a hipótese de apresentar um protesto junto da Federação Portuguesa de Vela, mas a reunião da Direcção do clube foi adiada para a próxima semana. Além de Miguel Martinho, que perdeu o título, nenhum outro atleta do clube participou na prova.
“Infelizmente, tivemos que adiar a reunião da Direcção. Mas enviámos um e-mail à Associação Portuguesa de Windsurf a pedir esclarecimentos”, disse esta sexta-feira, ao Swel-Algarve, o director desportivo do Clube Naval de Portimão, Luís Fonseca. Aquele responsável adiantou que o pedido de esclarecimentos sobre a prova em Óbidos se relaciona com “circunstâncias menos claras” e porque “alguns atletas que participaram não estavam com a licença válida”.

PORTIMÃO NAVAL CLUB ASKS FOR EXPLANATIONS
Clube Naval de Portimão – Portimão Naval Club (CNP) asked Associação Portuguesa de Windsurf – Portuguese Windsurf Association (APWind) for clarification on the last race of the Slalom Windsurfing Championship Campofrio 2012, held in Óbidos, over the weekend of December 1st and 2nd. Miguel Martinho, representing CNP, was the leader and lost the championship because he did not compete in the event, contested by other athletes because of the late date and the way it was convened.
Miguel Martinho, 2011 champion, feels “hurt” by losing the championship with a no-show at Óbidos but deferred further comment until after Clube Naval de Portimão reaches a conclusion. The CNP Board should have debated last night to file a protest with the Federação Portuguesa de Vela – Portuguese Sailing Federation, but the club’s Board meeting was postponed to next week. Besides Miguel Martinho, who lost the title, no other CNP athlete participated in the event.
“Unfortunately, we had to postpone the Board meeting. But we have sent an email the Associação Portuguesa de Windsurf – Portuguese Association of Windsurfing asking for clarification,” said on Friday, to Swel-Algarve, the sporting director of the Clube Naval de Portimão, Luís Fonseca. The official said that the request for clarification on the race in Óbidos relates to “less clear circumstances” and because “some athletes who participated did not have the valid license”.
