Vela – Meeting Internacional Pescanova de Optimist

A campeã nacional de vela infantil, Beatriz Gago, do Clube Naval de Portimão, conquistou um brilhante segundo lugar (2º) na classificação geral, primeiro lugar feminino, no grupo C – Troféu Coren (infantis) do Meeting Internacional Pescanova de Optimist, prova inserida na Semana del Atlántico, que hoje terminou na Ria de Vigo.
A Semana del Atlántico foi organizada pelo Real Club Náutico de Vigo e juntou cerca de 300 velas na classe Optimist. O Meeting Internacional desta classe pontuou para a Optimist Excellence Cup 2012 e os participantes foram divididos em duas tabelas de acordo com escalões etários: A+B (Troféu Pescanova – juvenis) e C ( Troféu Coren – infantis).

Beatriz Gago, que em Setembro se sagrou campeã nacional de Optimist em infantis e há uma semana iniciou o Campeonato do Algarve de Vela Ligeira com um terceiro lugar na geral de infantis (primeiro lugar feminino) foi a melhor velejadora portuguesa em Vigo.
No primeiro dia de regatas, Beatriz era quinta classificada, desceu para sétima no segundo dia e subiu ao segundo lugar, hoje, no último dia, quando pôde descartar o seu pior resultado nas seis regatas disputadas (um 13º).
A jovem de 10 anos de idade terminou a última regata do Grupo C no quatro lugar e chegou a fazer uma segunda posição na quarta regata, mostrando uma impressionante regularidade. A tabela classificativa do Grupo C tem um total de 37 velejadores, incluindo mais dois do CN Portimão: Daniel Cristiano (19º) e Beatriz Cintra (24ª).
Destaque ainda no Grupo A+B (juvenis) para Rodolfo Pires, do Clube de Vela de Lagos, que terminou a prova na 11ª posição, entre os 247 lugares nesta tabela classificativa. Rodolfo Pires é campeão nacional de Match Racing em Optimist e obteve um 5º lugar no XXX Garda Optimist Meeting, em Itália, em Abril deste ano.

Em Vigo, Rodolfo Pires foi o segundo melhor português no Grupo A+B, a seguir a Francisca Pinho (Sport Club do Porto – 7ª classificada). Ainda neste grupo, Rodrigo Correia (CN Portimão) terminou na 21ª posição e Dinis Martins (CN Portimão) na 46ª. Francisco Farinha (CN Portimão) foi 128º e Nino Valentino (CN Portimão) 153º.

Portuguese sailing girl champion Beatriz Gago, representing Clube Naval de Portimão (CNPortimão – Naval Club from Portimão), from the Algarve, finished with a brilliant second place (2nd) overall, first girl in Group C – Coren Trophy (children) of the Optimist International Meeting Pescanova, event included in ‘Semana del Atlántico’ (Atlantic Week), which ended today in the Ria de Vigo, Spain.
Semana del Atlántico was organized by the Real Club Nautico de Vigo and joined about 300 sails in the Optimist class. The International Meeting in this class scored for the Optimist Excellence Cup 2012 and the participants were divided into two group standings according to age: A + B (Pescanova Trophy – juveniles) and C (Coren Trophy – children).
Beatriz Gago, who in September was crowned portuguese children Optimist champion (girls) and started the Algarve Light Sail Cup, a week ago, with a third place overall children (first girl) was the best Portuguese sailor in Vigo, finishing 2nd in Group C.
On the first day of races, Beatriz was ranked fifth, dropped to seventh on the second day and moved into second place today, on the last day, when they could discard their worst result in the six regattas contested (a 13rd in Beatriz case).
The young 10-year-old finished the last regatta of Group C on fourth place and even made a second position in the fourth regatta, showing an impressive regularity. The overall standings in Group C had a total of 37 sailors, including two more from CNPortimão: Daniel Cristiano (19th) and Beatriz Cintra (24th).
Also noteworthy in Group A + B (juveniles) to Rodolfo Pires, representing Clube de Vela de Lagos (CVLagos – Sailing Club from Lagos), who finished 11th place overall among the 247 places in his group standings. Rodolfo Pires is portuguese Match Racing Champion in Optimist and finished in 5th the XXX Garda Optimist Meeting, Italy, in April this year.
In Vigo, Rodolfo Pires was the second best Portuguese in Group A + B, after Francisca Pinho (Sport Club do Porto – 7th ranked). Also in this group, Rodrigo Correia (CNPortimão) finished in 21st position and Denis Martins (CNPortimão) in the 46th. Francisco Farinha (CNPortimão) ranked 128th and Nino Valentino (CNPortimão) 153rd.
