A algarvia Teresa Duarte foi hoje eliminada na primeira bateria dos quartos-de-final do 2012 Sintra Pro Portugal, prova do circuito mundial de bodyboard a decorrer na Praia Grande, Sintra. A ‘rider’ da Associação Bodyboard de Sagres até começou bem o Dia 5 da competição, ultrapassando a Ronda 6, mas não conseguiu chegar às meias-finais.
Depois da eliminação dos competidores portugueses no Dia 4, hoje foram eliminadas as últimas três mulheres portuguesas que ainda estavam em prova no 2012 Sintra Portugal Pro. Marta Fernandes ‘caiu’ logo na Ronda 6. Teresa Duarte ainda ultrapassou essa ronda matinal de repescagem, mas ficou-se pelos quartos-de-final, já na parte da tarde, com mar mole e maré cheia.
A atleta algarvia, Teresa Duarte obteve 10.01 pontos, atrás de Eunate Aguirre (10.98) do País Basco e de Sari Ohhara (13.76) do Japão, que seguiram para as meias-finais. Na segunda bateria dos quartos-de-final, logo a seguir, entrou a portuguesa Catarina Sousa, que no dia anterior tinha conquistado o ‘bilhete dourado’ para os quartos-de-final, vencendo a sua bateria na Ronda 5, quando deixou Sari em terceiro lugar e Teresa em quarto.

Catarina Sousa, atleta de Carcavelos e campeã do 2009 Sintra Portugal Pro, foi a última portuguesa a ser eliminada este ano. Perdeu o segundo lugar na sua bateria dos quartos-de-final(que dava apuramento para as meias-finais) no último minuto e ficou-se pelos 8.93 pontos, atrás de Mayumi Tone (11.03) do Japão, e de Isabella Sousa (12.93), a brasileira líder do ranking mundial que a mesma Catarina deixara em segundo lugar na Ronda 5.

A outra atleta algarvia que esteve no 2012 Sintra Portugal Pro, Joana Schenker, ficou-se pela Ronda 4. A ‘rider’ da Associação Bodyboard de Sagres está já na Praia da Costa Nova, em Ílhavo, para a Miss Sumol Cup 2012.

Teresa Duarte from Algarve was today wiped out in the first heat of the quarter-finals in the 2012 Sintra Portugal Pro, event of the bodyboard world circuit taking place in Praia Grande, Sintra. The rider from Associação Bodyboard de Sagres had a good start on Day 5 of the competition, making her way trough Round 6, but she couldn’t get to the semi-finals.

After all portuguese men were wiped out yesterday, in Day 4 of the event, today (Day 5) were eliminated the three remaining portuguese women in the competition. Marta Fernandes was out in Round 6. Teresa Duarte still got trough that morning round, but was out in the ‘quarters’, in the afternoon, with soft sea and high tide.
The rider from Algarve, Teresa Duarte finished her quarter-final heat with a score of 10.01 points, behind Eunate Aguirre (10.68) from Basque Country and Sari Ohhara (13.76) from Japan. Both Eunate and Sari moved to the semi-finals.
The third and last portuguese women today eliminated was Catarina Sousa, in the second heat of the quarter-finals. She had jumped directly to the quarter-finals by winning, yesterday, her heat in Round 5. Today the rider from Carcavelos and 2009 Sintra Portugal Pro Champion lost her ‘ticket’ to the semi-finals in the last minute of the heat. She was second by then, but finished 3rd, with a score of 8.93, behind Mayumi Tone (11.03) from Japan and Isabella Sousa (12.93) from Brazil.
Another women from Algarve was in the 2012 Sintra Portugal Pro. Joana Schenker, also from Associação Bodyboard de Sagres was wiped out in Round 4.
