A Associação de Bodyboard de Sagres (ABS) teve atletas presentes em três das cinco finais (por escalões) disputadas na 3ª Etapa do Circuito Nacional de Bodyboard Esperanças 2013. Esta etapa, inicialmente prevista para os dias 10 e 11 de Agosto, decorreu neste fim-de-semana 3 e 4 de Agosto, na Praia da Arda, em Viana do Castelo.
Gonçalo Pinheiro (ABS) começou da melhor forma a competição em Sub-18 ao vencer a sua bateria na Ronda 1, mas acabou eliminado (3º em 4) na bateria da ronda seguinte (quartos-de-final). O atleta, que ainda está à procura de ritmo competitivo após um longo período de pausa por lesão, comentou: “Acabou mais um Esperanças a saberem a pouco… Perdi nos quartos de final e sem sorte nas ondas. É assim, para a frente é que é caminho”.
Em Sub-18 Feminino, Diana Nunes (ABS) realizou um bom campeonato. A atleta, a disputar o seu último Nacional Esperanças (em 2012 foi 6ª no ‘ranking’ nacional), venceu a sua bateria da primeira ronda (quartos-de-final) e venceu depois a sua bateria das meias-finais, onde estava presente Filipa Fernandes (2ª na meia-final), que acabaria por vencer a final, onde Diana Nunes ficou pela 4ª posição. Ainda em Sub-18 Feminino, Vanessa Marques (ABS) perdeu (3ª em 4) logo na ronda inaugural e Raquel Viseu (ABS) chegou às meias-finais (sendo aí eliminada; 3ª em 4).
Em Sub-16, Yuri Cabrita, atleta ABS a disputar o seu primeiro circuito nacional, voltou a repetir o 9º lugar alcançado nas duas etapas anteriores. Yuri foi eliminado (3º em 3) logo na ronda de abertura (quartos-de-final). Em Sub-14, Tomás Rosado (atleta ABS e campeão nacional Sub-12 em 2012) venceu a sua bateria de abertura (quartos-de-final) e passou as meias-finais com um 2º lugar na bateria, conseguindo repetir a presença na final, que terminou na 4ª posição.
Diogo Sousa (também a disputar o seu primeiro circuito nacional) obteve o melhor resultado para a ABS nesta 3ª Etapa do Circuito Nacional de Bodyboard Esperanças 2013: foi 2º classificado em Sub-12, categoria disputada por final directa por ter apenas quatro competidores. Depois de dois terceiros lugares, este foi o melhor resultado de Diogo Sousa no ‘nacional’.
A 4ª Etapa (a próxima) do Circuito Nacional de Bodyboard Esperanças 2013 está prevista para os dias 5 e 6 de Setembro, na Figueira da Foz.

ABS PRESENT IN 3 FINALS
The ‘Associação de Bodyboard de Sagres’ (ABS) was present in three of five finals (for ages) played in Stop 3 of the Portuguese Bodyboard Junior Tour 2013. The event, originally scheduled for the 10th and 11th August, was held this weekend 3 and 4 August in Arda Beach, in Viana do Castelo.
Gonçalo Pinheiro (ABS) began well in the Under-18, winning his opening heat, but was eliminated (3rd in 4) in the next round (quarter-final). The athlete, who is still looking for match fitness after a long injury break, commented: “Finished another Junior with poor taste … lost in the quarterfinals and no luck on the waves. Thus, the way is ahead. “
In Under-18 Female, Diana Nunes (ABS) had a good championship. The athlete, to play her last Junior Tour (in 2012 was 6th in the national ‘ranking’) won her first round (quarter-final) heat and won after her semi-final heat, in which was present Filipa Fernandes (2nd semi-final), who would eventually win the final, where Diana Nunes got the 4th position. Still in Under-18 Female, Vanessa Marques (ABS) lost (3rd in 4) in the opening round and Raquel Viseu (ABS) reached the semi-finals (there being eliminated; 3rd in 4).
In U16, Yuri Cabrita, ABS athlete in his first national tour, repeated the 9th place won in the two previous stops. Yuri was eliminated (3rd in 3) in the opening round (quarter-final). In U14, Tomás Rosado (ABS athlete and national U12 champion 2012) won his opening heat (quarter-final) and passed the semi-finals with a 2nd place in the heat, repeating the presence in the final, in which he ended 4th place.
Diogo Sousa (also in his first national tour) had the best result for the ABS in this Stop 3 of the Portuguese Bodyboard Junior Tour 2013: Diogo was 2nd place in U12; age group disputed in a direct final because it had only four competitors. After two third places, this was the best result for Diogo Sousa at the ‘national’.
Stop 4 (next) of the Portuguese Bodyboard Junior Tour 2013 is scheduled for the 5th and 6th of September in Figueira da Foz.
