O atleta algarvio Miguel Martinho, do Clube Naval de Portimão, venceu as duas regatas disputadas ontem no segundo dia do Campeonato de Espanha 2012 de Formula Windsurfing, a decorrer na Baía de Cadiz. O campeão português desta modalidade quer vencer a prova espanhola e o Masters Europeu em Outubro, depois de um decepcionante 15º lugar no mundial disputado na Letónia.
O campeonato espanhol começou na quinta-feira, dia 6, com ventos muito fortes, na casa dos 30 a 35 nós de Levante. Após um período de espera, a organização decidiu efectuar uma única regata nesse dia, já depois das 16h00. Miguel Martinho optou por não arriscar e não foi para a água. Apenas 13 dos cerca de 40 atletas inscritos arriscaram e apenas 5 completaram e a muito custo essa regata.
O campeão espanhol em título Fernando Martinez venceu essa regata ‘louca’ de quinta-feira. Ontem, no segundo dia de prova e já com ventos moderados de 9 nós, Miguel Martinho venceu as duas regatas disputadas, sempre seguido de Martinez, que manteve a liderança na classificação geral. Por não ter velejado na quinta-feira, o português estava na oitava posição da classificação geral e liderava a classe Master.
“Amanhã (hoje), temos mais, ver se me corre bem”, disse ontem Miguel Martinho, através da rede social Facebook. As regatas de hoje começam às 14h00 e a prova – Campeonato de Espanha 2012 de Formula Windsurfing – termina amanhã, domingo, dia 9 de Setembro. Boa sorte Miguel!

Miguel Martinho from Algarve, representing Clube Naval de Portimão, won the two races of the second day, yesterday, of the Spain Championship 2012 Formula Windsurfing, in de Bay of Cadiz. The portuguese champion wants to win the spanish championship and the european master in October, after finishing 15th in the world championship in Latvia.
The spanish championship in Cadiz started last thursday, September 6, with very strong wind, between 30 to 35 knots SW. After waiting almost all day, the organizers decided to give the green light to the only race of that day, after 16h00. Miguel Martinho decided not to go. Only 13 of the 40 athletes competing entered that race and only 5 finished it.
The spanish champion Fernando Martinez won the ‘crazy’ thursday race. Yesterday, friday September 7, second day of the spanish championship with mild winds of up to 9 knots, the portuguese Miguel Marrtinho won the two races of the day. Martinez was always second and secured the first place in the overall ranking. After the second day, Miguel Martinho was 8th in the overall ranking and 1st in the Master Division.
“Tomorrow (today) there will be more races and i hope i do good”, said Miguel Martinho, on Facebook. The races today start at 14h00 and the Sapin Championship 2012 Formula Windsurfing will end tomorrow, September 8. Good luck Miguel Martinho!
